There should be two heats of the 4x800m, the first of 12, the second of 11. I also listed the names who I think will be on the relay for each team, although these are not official, just projections.

The first heat is made up of a lot of teams very close to the standard that didn’t quite hit it, but should still feature some fast times. A lot of these teams have very capable runners who will be on the double from earlier races which will play a factor. For example, Penn Hills has the pieces to run very quick but I don’t see them doubling very well, especially after last year’s DMR performance. CR South could mix it up with four fresh legs, Hershey returns everyone from a 7:51 last year outdoors as well but they have to key legs on the double. I think Haverford will most likely take down the heat, with Hershey, Cumberland Valley and CR South in the mix. If Penn Hills runs to their potential they will surprise and maybe take a state medal.

The second heat should of course be very quick even with Abington’s legs all doubling back. Assuming Abington is running at full strength (i.e. every member of their A team) it is their race to lose. However, I am picking CB West for the upset here in what should be a very fast race around 7:50 for both squads, maybe a shade under for CB West. I don’t like to pick against Moran on the anchor, but I think a completely fresh set of runners for CB West will clinch the victory. In the chase pack I think LaSalle will take third in a time around 7:55-7:57, they will be in contention until the anchor leg where I do not think they have a stand out runner. Lower Moreland I am picking for fourth in a bit of an upset but I think Penncrest will take 5th, both teams around 8:04, Lower Moreland closer to 8:00. I think Pennridge should run fast here as well, I don’t think they are that far off of Penncrest when Penncrest has runners doubling and Pennridge is fresh. I could see them beating Penncrest, but right now I have them a step off at 8:05 or so. I think the other teams do not have the fresh runners to run as fast as they did in qualifying although I think Friend’s Central and Strath Haven have good runners, I think the tired legs will stop both squads from placing highly. I have Strath Haven still running decent enough to medal in 7th. I’ll take a teams out of the slow heat (I’ll say Haverford 8th) for the final medal position.

This should be a great race with Lefebure, I hope, running the 12 and getting the race out quickly. I see him opening up in around 3:08-3:10 with Wissahickon not far off as well as Pitt CC. O’Hara should put up a good start with two very solid first legs assuming they get a top 400 runner in their relay. After the 800 legs I think Wissahickon will have a solid lead if Cho runs the 800 leg. Following not far behind should be Henderson. I am not sure how the middle legs will do for Pittsburgh. The anchor legs should be stacked with talent, but it will be a matter of which team is close enough to hawk down the two front runners. I think Ned Willig and a completely fresh Great Valley DMR will take down the gold with a solid anchor leg from Willig, putting the team around 10:20 for the day. I see Wissahickon taking second, with Henderson nipping at their heels for third also in the low 10:20s. Behind them I expect a big anchor carry from Campbell to get the team to 4th and then perhaps a surprise performance from Boyertown down around 10:30 for 5th neck and neck with 6th place Pittsburgh Central Catholic. PCC has a chance to finish higher if their middle legs have big days. I see Wilson giving CHA a big anchor leg to rocket the team into 7th. I think he will be around 4:15. Finally I see Gil holding on to get the team 8th with around a 4:21 anchor leg.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role

Best Actor in a Supporting Role (AKA Best #2 Runner of PA High School)
Matt Bee, Central Bucks West, 4x800m
- Although Nick Scarpello was the big name behind CB West's district championship and state runner-up 4x800m performance, Matt Bee made quite the name for himself with race changing 3rd legs, including a 1:53 split at the state championships.

Brandon Bennent-Green, Cheltenham, Relays
- Not only did Brandon have to try to break out of the shadow of super star Matt Gilmore, he also had to prove himself in comparison to his twin brother Bernard. Bradnon made his mark, especially after Bernard's injury, by running key legs on state championship 4x2s and 4x4s and leading the team to a record setting winter and spring season. He also finished 1st at Districts and 5th at states in the open 400m.

Arkangelo James, Baldwin, 4x800m
- Baldwin came into the state championships as a major favorite in the 4x8 and although many people knew the names Bobby Bishop and Dennis Logan (District 7 800m champion), Arkangelo James blasted two of the fastest 800 legs of the spring at the state championships and helped Baldwin climb back into contention with his 3rd leg at states. He also ran a key 400 leg on Baldwin's DMR indoors which placed 4th at states and ran in the 10:20s overall.

Kyle Moran, Abington, 4x800m
- Moran was the top dog for a while in Abington, but this past season Charles Ross stole a lot of his publicity. But Moran still posted some very fast times and a great relay split indoors. Moran ran 1:53 and ran the key third leg on the indoor state championship relay that opened up the race for Abington. Abington won the Millrose games 4x8 as well that indoor season.

Logan Steiner, North Allegheny, XC
- Logan was new to NAXC this past season and took a back seat to eventual state champion Ryan Gil for most of the year. However, NA owes a lot of their success to the break out season by the Junior whose 13th place finish at states clinched the team's victory.

Macey Watson, Abington, Relays
- Macey Watson is a name most people most know, but he has played a huge part in Abington's relay success. Watson has run in the 48s and 1:56s for Abington and ran key legs on the indoor and outdoor 4x400m teams that took second at states. In addition, he ran a fantastic lead off leg outdoors in the 4x800, filling in for Kyle Moran, in his first season running that event.

Juris Silenieks, North Hills, XC
- Although Zach Hebda was the Gatorade award winner, Juris Silenieks (I hope this is spelled right) proved that he was an exception XC runner in his own right. The #2 runner in the North Hills monster for most of the season Juris ran very fast on a variety of courses, including an 11th place finish at Footlocker Northeast.

Best Art Direction

Best Art Direction (AKA Best Cross Country Course of the Year)
Lehigh
- The fastest course in the state and home to Paul Short, the SOL Championships, and the District One Championships.

Carlisle
- Quickly becoming a legendary meet the Carlisle Invitational featured the very best from around the state and a few from just outside PA. Stars were born on that course at midseason.

Belmont
- What many consider the toughest course in the state, the brutal back hills of Belmont Plateau turn even PA's best runners into hobbling old men.

Cooper’s Lake
- The WPIAL's championship course produced one of the best team battles of the season as well as an individual battle worth noting and some very fast times.

Hershey
- The state championship course produced some great duals this season while simultaneously crushing dreams and breaking spirits on the signature Aloha hills.

Manhattan
- A grueling 4000m course pitted some of PA's best against the rest of the nation.

Sunken Meadow
- Its signature Cardiac Hill combined with the already tough terrian made for a great XC race and got 3 PA runners to nationals.

Foot Locker Championship
- A course filled with history and the chance for glory allowed some PA runners to make a name for themselves on a national scene.

Best Visual Effects

Best Visual Effects (AKA Most Exciting Runner of the Year)
Will Kellar, Henderson
- Kellar had a knack for making things close this past year recording two of the best photo finishes of the year at indoor states in the DMR and outdoor states in the 1600m.

Brady Gehret, Altoona
- Every time Brady stepped on the track people believe lightening could strike twice in the same place. No one missed a Brady Gehret race including some fantastic 4x400m legs and record setting open performances.

Tom Mallon, Central Bucks South
- Mallon chased the 800m state record all year and record 3 sub 1:50 performances. Also he outkicked Tom Kehl in a very exciting indoor states mile, took a trip to the Millrose games and led some relay teams to the state championship with epic anchor legs.

Wade Endress, Altoona
- Wade Endress doubled and tripled a lot of weekends giving fans plenty to cheer about. Endress has one of the best kicks in the field and proved it with great finishes in XC at the NXN regional, XC States and Carlisle. Endress also produced a legendary DMR anchor leg at indoor states and a fantastic 800m kick at NIN.

Sara Sargent, Pennsbury
- She ran out front and pushed the pace for fast times, she had two of the most amazing kicks of the season, and she stormed by records from week to week. And she was only a freshman.

Angel Picirillo, Homer Center
- Angel had epic kicks at two state meets to win the Mile and also produced a gold medal at the Penn Relays. Her combination of speed and endurance have made for some fast wins this season.

Cheltenham 4x4
- Featuring some of the greatest personalities and greatest hats in the state, the Cheltenham 4x4 stormed by competitors on a week to week basis. At the Penn Relays Cheltenham ran a blazing 3:13 and chased records both indoors and outdoors. Matt Gilmore has continued the tradition he started in 2010 early in 2011 with an epic relay leg at Burdette.

Nick Scarpello, CB West
- Scarp always found himself in the mix in great races. Even in dual meets he was running fast mile times. A face filled with grit and determination let the fans know he was leaving everything on the track from week to week.

Sam Ellison, Upper Dublin
- Making his debut in the 800 Sam Ellison ran hot times indoors while carrying his relay squads all season. He also threw in some great 400 races with some of the states top dogs. He was hard to miss off the track, but impossible to miss on it.

Academy Awards Information

I will try to spread out the nominees as best I can and get a good mix of male and female nominees for each category. Things will not be perfect unfortunately and many people who I feel could be nominees will not be, while runners who could easily win two awards will not be a nominee in a certain category because they already are up for other things. I will try to attach videos related to those categories that need videos.

Here are a few other things worth noting.

I decided that I will compile the results privately rather than a public poll so there will be some supsense before the announcement of each award.

I will close the voting a little earlier than the night/day I plan on unveiling the results and I will message on Facebook all the winners I am friends with and will ask them if they would like to make a video acceptance speech.

I think it would be really awesome if we had a video accpetance speech from all the winners, videos of presenters of each awards who then can say something about the award, rename the nominees and announce the winner, and also maybe an opening video with some of the best races of the year.

I am not positive I know how to work all the technology necessary to combine all these videos into one video I can show on Oscar night for everyone but I do know a lot of people who can help me out.

I think this can be a really cool concept but it will require a lot of help from a lot of people. It will take plenty of voting and plenty of help nominating and plenty of videoing. I am up for the challenge if you are.
