Here's a list of guys who I feel are having awesome seasons but flying under the radar a little bit so far. So here is 100% reason to remember the name ...
5. Lower Moreland- Who are these guys?? Well they are currently the PA #2 team in the 4x8 with a 8:06 behind only heavy favorites Abington. They have no flashy big names but they have performed well before with a great time at AA States last spring. Obviously getting to run a bank track well many other top teams have not gives them a nice advantage, but they still ran a time that medals most years at the State Championships. Pretty solid for such a small school.
4. Cardinal O'Hara Relays- No love for the XC squad and now the track team isn't getting talked about either! 2 individuals have qualified for states in the 400 from this squad including Tyler Gallen, PA #5. Those legs help make their 4x2 and 4x4 relays top squads overall, already qualifying for the state championships in both with a 1:31 and 3:29 respectively. Let me remind you they are the defending 4x4 champs from outdoors. On top of that they're distance squad as dialed up a sub 11 DMR on a flat track while also sporting an 8:10 4x8.
3. Mahdi Koliso- Glenn Mills isn't known for their distance running, but you wouldn't know it when looking at Mahdi's stats. After a killer XC season where he finished in the top 15 at districts he has run 8:58 for 3000m, one of only three men to hit the qualifying standard (faster than Alex Izewski and Juris Silenkis). He's sported decent times in the shorter races like the 800 and may have a bright future in the mile.
2. Brett Kelly and Boyertown- One of the few teams who have not run on banked tracks, Boyertown has not run amazing times but they have been very solid since December. An 8:16 early on and a 10:49 as of late indicate great fitness. Brett Kelly has also run 9:01 for 3k by himself in flats and has run 4:28.32, the fastest mile on a flat track thus far. Once this squad gets on to a fast surface they will be dangerous.
1. Manny Collins- Manny had a huge weekend running a PA #2 in the 400 (49.40) after showing he could hang near Gilmore earlier in the season at Burdette. Then he helped lead his 4x2 and 4x4 teams to PA #2 times including a 3:23 4x4. He also recently helped the 4x8 team qualify for states on a flat track. By states this man may show up a lot on the medal stand.
