etrain Poster Moments

So as the bracket goes on, I will try and pick one race that I thought was epic enough that there should be poster of it. Each of these races will feature someone who is currently up for voting. This round's race is:
PTFCA Indoor State Championships Men's DMR 2010
There were many teams who took the trip to Penn State hoping for a team trophy. 3 of them were featured in the DMR championship race. As the men toed the line Penn Hills, CB South, and Altoona were fighting tooth and nail with Cheltenham for the top spot. Penn Hills came in as one of the top seeds and CB South had the Indoor State Champion in the mile and Indoor state record holder at 800m: Tom Mallon. Baldwin and Henderson came in with the top seeds, however, and had fresh legs at 1200 and the anchor. Henderson's Luke Lefebure had also pulled off a shocking upset earlier that day in the 800m final. GFS and St. Joe's Prep came in with experience in the DMR. All signs pointed to a fantastic race. Etrain's stance: "I expect fresh legs to prevail and I like GFS in the upset with Henderson taking second."

When it came time for the race Tom Mallon was seriously spent from his earlier individual efforts. He lay on the ground in agony after a tough 800 finish. However, there was no doubt he would be a dangerous anchor leg. CB South was off the medal stand if they couldn't beat Penn Hills by serious amount, while Altoona was looking to hold off Cheltenham, who had just one race left to score, the 4x4, which they were almost a lock to win. If Penn Hills one the race and pulled off an upset in the 4x4 they too could take home a team championship. Needless to say Altoona could not afford to choke in their final race of the day.
Race Commentary from announcers Jarrett Felix and etrain11:
Jarrett: "And the gun has sounded here for the Men's Distance Medly Relay and the runners are out cleanly."
etrain: "Quite a support showing by the Altoona faithful as the stadium is quaking with their cheers. Altoona is located not too far from Penn State as you can see by the zip code on the fan's shirts."
Jarrett: "This track is a great place to run fast, especially with great track fans like this. It looks like Tom Waterman of GFS is going to handle the pace here with Chris Fischer right next to him. But really this is just one large pack through the first lap."
etrain: "This is a new order from the one GFS used to qualify and should yeild a much faster time. Tom Waterman was the 400 leg of GFS's Championship of America DMR in 2008."
Jarrett: "Pre race favorite Baldwin is making a surge now as they want to stay in the mix. Meanwhile WPIAL rivals Penn Hills seem to be slipping a little off the pace."
etrain: "Dorian Rumble placed second in the 800 earlier and he looks like he his feeling that race in his legs. Balwin will not let this pace go too slow as Cecala begins to string out the pack."
Jarrett: "CB South now making a move, that's Joey Waddington who has been flying under the radar as one of the better 12 legs in the state. He may not have the flashy achievements of the others but he is not letting it show as they pass the halfway point. Waterman, however, still looks very comfortable out front, no signs of slowing down."
etrain: "One lap to go the race is on! Brady Gehret steps out to wait for the baton but Fischer is back in 5th at the moment. Just trying to keep them in contention."
Jarrett: "But Waterman will hand off the stick ahead of the rest, Cecala behind him and a fantastic finish for Waddington. The 400 runners are off, Arkangelo James from Baldwin is flying here on this opening 200."
etrain: "Listen to this crowd cheer! White Lightening has struck!"
Jarrett: "Gehret is already up into third, James is in first as it has already become a clear cut five team race. Penn Hills is fighting hard to stay in the mix, the team title hanging in the balance."
etrain: "Altoona can lock it up if Liberman and Endress can hold on to this spot. Gehret is now in second as they come down the final straight, Baldwin's Dennis Logan will have the edge."
Jarrett: "And its around a 48 second split for Gehret, the Altoona fans are screaming now for Jordan Liberman."
etrain: "Endress said if his team could get him the stick near by he thought he had enough left to go for the win. This leg will be the key."
Jarrett: "Pre race favorite Henderson is still back in 5th, but they are giving the baton to newly crowned state champion Luke Lefebure. CB South still near the leaders with Mallon waiting to chase someone. Right now number 1 seeded Balwin is trying to run away from the field as Logan is really pounding. Liberman is working hard in second running in his classic style with his tounge out."
etrain: "Tom Denno moving very quickly for CB South, his first lap has got to be about the same as Lefebure's."
Jarrett: "Lefebure looks very in control here, letting the race come to him once again. The pack is grouping up slowly, Logan still out ahead but looking very strained, his shoulders rising. The sophomore Bobby Bishop has to be feeling nervous, the biggest moment of his young career about to unfold."
etrain: "Here comes a big move by Lefebure on the outside! He's moving up into second now and Will Kellar looks ready to go on the sideline."
Jarrett: "Baldwin, Henderson, Altoona, GFS, CB South, and Penn Hills all in the mix. Waterman's still got a little juice left, Denno is fading after his early surge. Here they come to the exchange, Bishop will get it first but not by much. Endress is stepping down as well, but he looks to have gotten it a little too far behind the others. He will not be able to dictate the pace much.'
etrain: "Endress has got a poten kick so he won't mind running from the back in my opinon. The question remains can Bobby Bishop drop some of the most experienced achors in the state."
Jarrett: "And if the pace is too slow can Tom Mallon find himself in a posistion to strike?"
etrain: "If these runners know whats good for them they will look to get as far away as possible from Endress and Mallon."
Jarrett: "Well that is exactly what the youngster has started off with, breaking away from the chase pack, Bishop seems content to do all the work out front. Kellar, McKenzie and Endress follow."
etrain: "Well Mallon doesn't look too good, Anderson is already stepping on the gas to catch him and both are relatively far away. It will take a big move to catch the leaders and I don't think either of these runners are capable of it at this point after having just run such strong 800s."
Jarrett: "Meanwhile Endress has surged here saying I don't want to wait for Bishop to run away with this one before I make my move."
etrain: "Interesting decision here, there is no way Endress isn't feeling that Mile from earlier, he has to be careful not to make too much of a move too early."
Jarrett: "Kellar and McKenzie have no urgency right now in their pace, they are not afraid of Bishop's lead although he is holding it quite well out front. If they wait too long they will run out of track."
etrain: "It's still early in the race, Bishop is moving at a quick pace maybe even a foolish pace. Mallon meanwhile has a solid hold on 5th, not sure if he'll have enough to catch anyone else."
Jarrett: "Bishop is definitely struggling here as now Kellar has taken over the chasing duites, Endress falling back to 4th. Kellar will make his surge now and go for the win."
etrain: "The move has to break a lot of confidence from Endress, that may end Altoona's chances in this race."
Jarrett: "And Kellar is now right on Bishop's shoulder the move was timed very well and McKenzie and Endress were left a little shell shocked and trying to find something left for the final laps."
etrain: "The Altoona fans are trying to breath some life into Endress, who needs some CPR right now if he's going to come back."
Jarrett: "And now Bishop is plumetting in the field, Kellar is outfront with a sizeable lead as he heads into the final lap: a sprint for home. This will be quite a win for Henderson, who won the race back in 2007."
etrain: "This race isn't over yet! Here comes a move from Wade Endress, left for dead about 2 laps ago finding enough left in the tank to move into second. Does he have enough track left? The crowd has come to its feet roaring and cheering for Endress!"
Jarrett: "It looks like Kellar doesn't know Wade is breathing down his neck, he's tying up as they approach the line, perhaps he made too early of a kick."
etrain: "He's fist pumping prematurely here! Endress will lean and .... he might have gotten him! How could Kellar not know Endress was right there!"
Jarrett: "A truly herculean effort by Endress who we dug himself out of a huge hole here and first or second he has won Altoona the team title!"
etrain: "The scoreboard reads Henderson then Altoona, seperated by a mere three hundreths of a second. Wow, what a finish."
Jarrett: "This is why we love track and field!"
