Runners You Don't Want to Forget About Outdoors

Connor Strynkowski- One of the top 3200m returners who really came on strong at the right time last spring.

Quinn Devlin- His injury made him a little obselete for this year, but don't forget just how good he was before the injury. 9:20 and 15:30ish are no joke.

Jeff Groh- His teammate was making the noise this indoor season, but Groh was the better XC guy most of the year when it counted. Keep him on the radar.

Conner Quinn- The XC State champion can almost always boast a sub 9:20 3200m the next spring in recent years. Quinn has to at least be able to drop under 9:30 which may put him in medal contention in a down year for the AAA 32.

Ryan Smathers- Ran one solid race at the end of indoors to remind us he is no joke. He can also boast about a solid 4:18 1600m PR. He has to be the favorite for the 1600m state championship this year.

Drew Magaha- I mean, you probably didn't, but the kid is way too talented to expect him to not be in 4:10 shape by May.

The AA XC Boys- Jewett, Jackson, Williams, Kemp and Jones all have potential for some breakout races. It should be an up year for the AA boys in terms of the 3200m.

Max Norris, LJ Westwood, Mike Runco, Lawtin Tellin, Tom Damiani

  1. Did Groh get hurt or something? Because Nissley was everywhere this indoor season and he wasn't in a single meet??? And I'm calling it now, Magaha is gonna repeat as 1600 state champ.

  2. Id put Brent Kennedy on the list too- he did indoor, but only two races (I think) both on the DMR.

  3. I had a long analysis of a few runners... but my laptop shut off and I'm too annoyed to write it again, lol, so here's a summary.

Even though they didn't get a lot of buzz this indoor season, watch out for Regan Rome, Katelyn Callaghan, Biz Weiler, Ajna Weiler, Paige Stoner. I'd expect all of them to medal in their respective events this outdoor season.
