Meet of Champs

We were on site today! We watched all the distance events and filmed everything after the DMR plus we got an interview with the O'Hara DMR. Hopefully we will have lots of videos up and the sound quality hopefully will work out. We did some announcing but nothing intense, we just had fun with it.

O'Hara obviously highlighted the meet with their nice DMR (3:11-53-1:58-4:23 unofficially) run but there some nice 4x8s run as well with Upper Darby winning out of the slow heat I believe around 8:08-8:10. Their lead off leg was out, he was rolling. Lucas Elek had a monster relay leg as well. Watch out for him in the open 8 at states. Sanders looked good as well in the 4x8 and open 8 and Wiseman got a big win. He is an expert at leaning. Sanders is finally developing into a top guy after all the sleeper talk.

Big day for the CRN boys as Zingarini won the mile out of the slow heat with a 4:24 high solo effort. Rivera and Francis outkicked Norris as they all ran around 4:25 in an exciting race. States will be very interesting for Bensalem and others. Ross Wilson dominated from the gun winning in 8:50 pretty effortlessly. Watch out for him at states. Emery ran a solid 8:54 and Pitone will round out the field with Savage and James after his

The open 8s had way too many people in them. There were a lot of falls and bad luck. At states we won't see that. I'm sure there are a ton of other performances that were awesome and I'm forgetting now off the top of my head but as we get closer to states there will be lots of in depth previews, videos, predictions and analysis. Now is a great time to start getting into the blog.

Catch you boys on the flip.

  2. Dtown east and pennridge took 2nd and 3rd out of the slow heat in the dmr. Not sure what the splits were but Logue handed off with a pretty big lead over Billy Caldwell who came back with a nice 800 double.

  3. I split Joe Logue at 2:04 into a 3:09. He looked really smooth through 800.

The fast heat had James and Magee pushing each other. They went 63, 65, 63.

  4. My boys from Upper Darby are looking good. Only one graduates, so next year they should be back. Their lead off (Greg) has indescribable determination. I've seen that kid hit the wall and still push throw to a good time. When he says he's going to get a time... he will get it. The rest of the has it too, but it's definitely most apparent. I'd pick Upper Darby as my sleeper team for States. I can't really say that because Jack called it first... so I'll jump on board with him.

Speaking of Jack... how did Millrose go for him and Harriman? I hope both of them dropped amazing times.

...speaking of Millrose, why did LaSalle choose to run MoC instead? Was it because Coyle is sick? The other three legs ran it, but not him?

  5. Actually, I just saw the results of Millrose. Neither of them made top 8 so I assume bad races. I know Jack's been sick, but what about Harriman? Is he okay?

  6. Not sure if you watched it, Jack lead in the top 150 and went out pretty hard in 31 or so. They were 63 through 400 and he was in 2nd. Then he just fell off after that. They went out in 2:08.

Stone was knocked around, but he didn't look great in the open 800 today. And I didn't see Coyle at the meet.

Not sure what's up with Harriman, but the other guys didn't do great overall in that 4x8. Alex Sauer has been running around 2 flat all season and was 2:04, not sure if he got bumped. O'Connell had a great split with 1:58 low though. If they can all come together on the right day, they got a great DMR or 4x8.

Hopefully they're all ok though. Remember, last year Willig didn't run to great and he came back to win the state mile.

I'll be putting up the 4x4 and 4x8 heats up tomorrow morning. Upper Darby really looked great.

  7. Jack has been battling sickness all season practically. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason. He has taken the mile out 2:03 this season so the pace definitely wasn't too hard. It could have just been nerves as well, Millrose is a big deal. I'm pretty sure that's what happened with Ned. He got it out of his system and come StatesI'm sure he will run well. When does the States list come out?
