Weekend Not a Complete Wash

Jaskowak gets the SQS in the 1600m and Luoco just misses I believe. Vincentian Academy had a guy run 2 flat which sets up there DMR nicely for the future. Also Ryan Archer dropped a 9:28 for 3200m which puts him converted at around 8:53 or so. Zemet is going to be close but may just miss with his 9:35 for 3200m.

PCL Championships tomorrow.

Goodnight.

PCL Results:
LaSalle 10:53 DMR
Bonner 10:55 DMR

Then in the mile:

 1 Coyle, Tom                12 La Salle College       4:20.57$  10
  2 Stone, Andrew             12 La Salle College       4:22.05$   8
  3 James, Kevin              10 Cardinal O'Hara        4:22.80$   6
  4 Magee, Jack               12 La Salle College       4:26.15$   4
  5 Pitone, Ernie             12 Cardinal O'Hara        4:29.06$   2
  6 Pastore, Chris            12 Cardinal O'Hara        4:37.45    1

Impressive run by Kevin James form O'Hara to clock that 4:22. Either LaSalle had some really nice doubling from guys like Magee or they have a deeper squad than we thought posting up that 10:53 without their 3 best legs. Magee had a nice mile regardless of whether he was fresh or not and Pitone did  a good job to get down to the SQS. The mile field now has like 60 people who have hit the qualifying time. Yikes.

As I hear more results I'll post them up.

 1 Stone, Andrew             12 La Salle College       1:58.79$  10
  2 Belfatto, Jim             11 Cardinal O'Hara        1:59.56$   8
  3 Magee, Jack               12 La Salle College       1:59.98$   6
  4 Boyle, Jimmy              12 Cardinal O'Hara        2:02.24    4
  5 Sullivan, Joe             11 Monsignor Bonner       2:03.41    2
  6 Truhan, Sean              12 Roman Catholic         2:03.47    1
  7 Biche, Peter              11 Cardinal O'Hara        2:03.82

Pretty sick doubled for Jack Magee, really makes this LaSalle DMR dangerous. Belfatto solid as well and Stone is of course a stud.

1 Coyle, Tom                12 La Salle College       8:46.88#  10
  2 Savage, Dan               12 Cardinal O'Hara        8:48.34#   8
  3 James, Kevin              10 Cardinal O'Hara        8:54.25#   6
  4 McDermott, William        12 Monsignor Bonner       8:58.64$   4
  5 Pitone, Ernie             12 Cardinal O'Hara        9:01.44    2
  6 Pastore, Chris            12 Cardinal O'Hara        9:08.00    1
7 Greco, Matt               12 La Salle College       9:08.46
  8 Hayes, Matt               12 Cardinal O'Hara        9:15.35
How about this for a 3k? Coyle looking very sharp beating Savage, but Savage really is set up nicely for states with a time like this. Coyle specializes in winning track races against Savage, can't believe he has done it again. Very fast race. Shame for Pitone to just miss the qual mark but a sick double for him and Kevin James as well. Wow he was straight moving out there with an 8:54. I assume McDermott ran the DMR for Bonner as well so not a bad double for him by any means.

No results on the 4x8 yet, but I'm not really expecting anything fast.

It's going to be very interesting to see who all chooses to run what at states.

  1. Just out of curiosity, why is the 3200 to 3k conversion 35 seconds? At the top of the PTFCA website it says 37, and in years past it has been 37. In most cases it does not make a difference, but for Zemet that would put him under 9.

    1. I think it's 35 for a banked track and 37 for a flat track.

    2. 3000 Meters
      9:00.23(F) 8:59.43 (B)
      3200 to 3K -.35

that's from the ptfca website ... they must have changed the standard this year because it always used to be 37 ... kind of unfair for zemet

    1. Can you qualify for indoor states on an outdoor track?

    2. Yes. The adjustment is the same as a bankd/oversized track.

The 3k and 800 on the boys side will be well paced to run the SQS.

    5. Will any other events be run besides the ones listed above? Perhaps a 400 or Mile?

    6. Yea could we get a mile?

    7. Check the schedule on the link. There will be a mile and a 400. Also, possibly a DMR at 4:15 and a 4 x 8 at 4:05. The 3k and the 800 will be well-paced.

    1. McDermott actually tripled. He came back after the mile leg of the dmr and 3k to run in the 4x800 running 2:04.

  4. Coyle closed in like 27-28 seconds in the 3k him and savage pulled away from James in the last lap crazy race

  5. talk about impressive, Matt Greco was the kid with a collapsed lung. Wasnt able to train at the beginning of the season, comes back to run 9:08.

  6. Kevin James is the shocker for me! 4:22 and 8:54 is ridiculous! Good for the youngin'.

Tom Coyle is just insane. 4:20 on a flat track, then an 8:46 off the double? Wow. I'm sure everyone in that 3k is excited that he isn't running it. Both on a flat track, too. In my opinion, he's the one to beat. I'm glad my boy is going out with a bang.

That meet held impressive results. Andrew Stone isn't to be overlooked either. He had a solid double.

    1. From the Coyle Stone video it looks like lasalle running 4x800 at Millrose trying for state record and then DMR at states. Audio is really bad but I am pretty sure stone says he is doing the 800 and DMR

    2. I think he said he is doing the 800 and EITHER the 4x800 or DMR

  7. This is from the Philadelphia Inquire:

Distance medley: 1. La Salle (Pat Grant, Evan Quain, Mike Bishoff, Brendan Bilotta), 10:53.92; 2. Bonner-Prendergast, 10:55.75; 3. Roman Catholic, 11:01.14.

    4 X 400 relay: 1. La Salle (Jack Magee, Levi Hardy, Luke McCann, Andrew Stone), 3:34.11; 2. Roman Catholic, 3:35.28; 3. Neumann-Goretti, 3:38.17.

So it appears that Lasalle has a pretty deep squad, running 10:53 without Coyle, Stone, or Magee. So I assume that Bilotta ran a pretty quick time in the mile because I havent heard of their 1200 or 800 legs before. Also, it looks like Stone and Magee came back for the triple in the 4x4, and they must have gone fairly fast because they were just off the SQS.

    1. Grant (Freshman) 3:15 Bilotta 4:36. Bilotta had remnants of the flu, that's why he scratched the 3k

    2. Grant ran 4:40 on Glen Mill's track, but 3:15 is really impressive. Would've put him around 3:20. Really great work by the LaSalle Coaches. Magee is killing it. That's about a 54.0 average, so i'm guessing Stone was about a 52 or so
