Paul Short Quick Thoughts

For all you out there wondering: Rico Galassi is for real. Great weather today on a fast course left the door open for Rico to go off to the tune of a 15:44. What makes it more impressive to me is the fact that Galassi and company weren't even running sub 5 minute pace on Lehigh's sloppy first mile (6 races already under the courses belt by the gun), unheard of for a sub 16 minute mark on the course. I knew there was a reason this guy had the #1 ranking on this blog for a little bit .... I think the kid deserves some more votes in the poll boys.

The Ritz bros are back! Ben opens up in 15:52, Sam is the #3 PA finish behind Rico and his brother at 16 flat (the same time as Brendan Shearn last year). The GA boys didn't exactly storm onto the scene at Briarwood, but today they were very impressive.

Hershey and CV incredibly close again! But no Alex Coburn for CV ... that gives them the edge in my book.

West Chester East silences the doubters with a big win. They have a great pack for sure.

Haverford boys doing work as well. Bodine and Fowler running great races.

And Huemmler is back to running with the leaders, the milers sure do love Lehigh's course.

  1. What were the WCE pack times? I'm still on the fence about them and even though they won, looking at the registered teams, It kind of looks like they were the only other top ten ranked team besides Cumberland Valley, who are ranked tenth. I don't know, I just want to see them against a team like Lower Dauphin, Mount Lebanon, or Pennsbury

  2. Alex Coburn finshed 203 in 18:23. Everyone has bad days, but wow. Had he run well, all 5 scorers would have been sub 17.

    1. CV might have placed higher but even with him they werent winning the whole thing. WCE is still a better and deeper team.

    2. If Coburn ran his season best 16:22 he would have placed on front of all the WCE guys so yea cv would have won because their 2-4 guys without him finished in 16:48, 16:49, and 16:51

    4. CV could not even beat DWest

    5. DWest would have beaten WCE if they choose to run Short.

    6. Stop hating on WCE, I've said from the beginning and you guys doubted, they win and you guys still doubt. WCE was missing Sean Dougherty who is their number 5 guy and would have beaten Crump who ran 16:51. None of them ran how they could have, except Crump. Jesse Rodgers, Chris Cummings, Alex Hughes, Eric Diestelow and Stephen Dages didn't have great days... and they still won. They had a solid day, but they could have run faster. They all ran better on different courses (harder too). Come districts if the conditions are well, WCE will be sick if injuries stay under control. CV wasn't going to win.

  5. Anyone see the O'hara results at Great American? The times are a joke, so much so that they can't be taken seriously. Maybe the course was measured short or ridiculously downhill.
