XC Rankings 9/9

Alrighty folks here is a little ranking flavor for ya. Here's the deal, I'm going to be straight with you, the rankings this week were extremely difficult. It's hard to balance my expectations for the future with the evidence in front of me right now to determine ideal rankings. 1. Any possibility Deluca could be a state champ this year? He's on fire right now... Very interesting first two weekends in PA so far

    1. it's still hard for me to imagine him beating Jaskowak and Shearn at season's end, but at this rate who knows. He has yet to be beaten by anyone in AA or AAA this season. Shows the power of A this year as well.

  2. Looking forward to Briarwood and getting a good look at Henderson/O'hara/LaSalle/North Penn. My guess is Russell is going to move way up on that list next week, Barchet & McCauley too. Not sure about Quinn but this race will show if he's rounding into top shape. He seems to favor hilly courses. If Coyle doesn't run due to injury, he may have to drop.

    1. Coyle is hanging by a thread at the 4 spot right now. Until I know for sure what kind of shape he is in despite the injury I can't quite drop him yet.

    2. Insider report has it that Coyle is almost in running form, and won't open up until after PIAA Foudations.

    3. I also heard that Andrew Stone and their 5th runner, whose name escapes me, are also out wit injuries at the moment

    4. Matt Greco is their 5th man and he's hurt I heard

    5. If Coyle is not opening to after foundations leads me to think he has been out for a while with Stone and another top 5 runner also injured there is no way they can hang on to their 4th place standing. LaSalle just doesn’t have the depth.

    6. It is killer for La Salle yes, but all of these guys will be back and fresher than anyone in the state by the time there back and healthy. For now Magee will suffice for La Salle

  3. How did Danny Klink stay in the top 50? He was 40th at PTXC4 GOLD race. 40th!!! And I would move Pondel and Todaro up to 10-11th. Todaro is my pick for 3rd place in AA and District 3 has always been more successful at AA compared to AAA (see Gruschow, Beveridge, etc.). And Pondel had an awesome race at McDowell that was ridiculously fast. Think the two are better than the two previous state champions during the first weekends.

  4. A few things...

    1. Chris should be ranked higher than Matt, thus far he has beaten Matt every invitational.

    2. AJ chaborek on the "just missed" list? Where does that come from? He's ranked higher than Sam Haugh on that list? And a few other O'Hara kids?

Steve Yannacone? Pretty much same deal as Chaborek. He isn't a very strong XC runner. Definitely more of an 800 runner/a miler.

I forgot the rest and have homework. I hope Tom comes off injury smoothly and Idk if Jack is injured, but he didn't race at Abington (I'm hoping because of ACTs).

    1. Aj is on the just missed list because he's going to be really good. What is your problem with henderson, like, you always have shit on them? is it because you're from great valley or something? Aj is one of those rare kids who's good from the 400 all the way up to the 5k. Sam haugh missed all of indoor and didn't even run friday. He's not even a necessity on the Henderson team anymore because they have a bunch of guys who can pass him now. Get over your butt hurt, seriously, you're calling out runners way ahead of your league and in every post you make things personal.

    2. Hey thank you for standing up for me anonymous dude above me, but I understand where he is coming from. I have only run a two mile this season so being mentioned as almost making it was a surprise for me, the fact that I was considered is awesome. RTJ, i did not view that as a personal attack at all. I've met you in person and think youre a great guy so I know you just talk stats, not burning on people you dont like. When random people like the guy above me stand up for my team, it looks like we are the ones making the posts trying to act like random fans, and thats not the case. If anything we have historically and currently tried to lay low until the post season.

    3. I was sick with a nasty sinus infection last week and didn't run Abington to focus on just getting better, I'm back now. I was running by the time of Abington but I didn't feel comfortable racing.

    4. RTJ's butthurt and too personal for posting his opinions and backing them up with logic and information from past races, but you're perfectly comfortable saying things like "You always have shit on Henderson? Is it because you're from Great Valley or something" and "You're calling out runners way ahead of your league?" Makes a lot of sense buddy.

  5. What happened to Barchet? How'd he go from 28th to just missed it?

    1. yeah, I'd ask why russell went back three after a good race but we have to understand that they haven't even run a 5k yet. Etrain is doing ranks, not where he thinks they'll be.

  6. Some of you guys need to give Etrain a little slack. It's very early in the season and these venues/relays/two mile runs make it tough to gauge where someone stands. We should know a lot more after Briarwood on Saturday.

  7. I'd like to apologize to all runners of Henderson. Even though I stand by what I said, I guess I could have said it a bit nicer? I don't want to cause trouble, I was just expressing my opinions from what I have read, seen, and heard.

In reaction to that comment... I wasn't calling out runners... and I never said I was very talented at XC so I don't know how that comment was thrown in there. I'm a 200-800 guy, so I wouldn't ever call someone out in XC, that would just be silly.

I'd also like to apologize to AJ. I wasn't trying to burn on you at all. I'm glad you understood that. I've met/raced you a handful of times and you're really chill and a monster at racing. I still remember our 4x8/DMR face off and both times when you got the baton we knew you'd close the gap and our goal was to get the baton far away from you. I am not doubting your XC skills, I was just surprised that the almost was from Immaculata, that's all. I hope you run well at Briarwood so I can talk you up.

I have NOTHING person against Henderson. Why would I have it against them? They weren't even in our division for XC/Track and the only time we even saw them was at Chesmonts really. If I wanted to bash Henderson, I'd do it from an anonymous name and not let people see who I am. From the people I've met in all of our races, they are a cool bunch of guys. I just didn't think ON PAPER they were ready to beat O'Hara, which is why I said numerous times that we will see at Briarwood. I didn't have any 5ks to go by so all I really had was Immaculata and last year's States results. If Henderson dominates Briarwood, you'll see me posting about how I was wrong about O'Hara being better at this point.

    JG- Loving the sass.

    Jack- Good to hear, bud.

  8. It's just about impossible to rank this early on in the season. Speaking in terms of the wpial runners, I expect to see improvement out of Culley of moon (18th last year at states), and Luke Schott of Franklin Regional (after missing entire month of august due to head injury). Also, look for Brent Kennedy to be the one to beat this year at states.
