Weekend Results

If you have any results from this weekend's action, post them up here as comments when you hear about them. Also dual meets and things from throughout the week are interesting to know. I know North Penn beat UD in a dual at UD. Macauley bested Ferruzzi for the 1-2 punch and I think NP took 3rd and then UD 4th? Someone would have to confirm the UD 4th think but I thought Steven Williamson for UD was up there pretty well.

I'm a UD alumn for those of you who don't know and this is off memory and one phone call.

So yeah comment away with the latest news from a great weekend of XC action!

  1. Cumberland Valley 23, Chambersburg 39
    Central Dauphin 24 , Mifflin County 37
    Carlisle 20, State College 39
Lower Dauphin 23, Cedar Cliff 41
Those are some major Mid-Penn dual meet scores.
I think that PTXC4 will definitely be the race to watch this weekend. Look for a big race between the top 3 D3AAA teams: Red lion, CV and LD. Obviously the other competition will be there and will probably win, but this is a preview of the D3AAA championship race.

    1. Lower Dauphin wins the gold in the gold race of PTXC4. 94 points for LD, then Hershey and CV at 99 each. Northeast Bradford get 5th but looks very strong for AA (or A?).

Williams (NB) squeaks outs a win over Deluca (Dallas). Quinn/Shearn go 6-7 with times in the 1630s. Jeff Groh (LD) stayed in contact with Deluca and Williams finishing fourth only 5 seconds behind. Nissley (LD) and Kunzwieler(CV) round out the top 9 spots, as Curt Jewett(NB) places 5th and an unattached Michael Wegner finishes 3rd.

    2. State college didn't run their top six guys against Carlisle. They would have one otherwise. However, Carlisle does have several very good runners.

  4. Kiski got crushed at red white and blue even with Brent Kennedy running. Jaskowak got beat by Ethan Martin and Kennedy. NA had their top 5 in the top 20 and beat Lebo 58-98. After that it went Fox Chapel Hampton cathedral prep then Baldwin.

    1. Fox Chapel had a soph in the JV race go 17:11, would have been 4th on the varsity team and roughly a 20-30 point swing depending on which version of the results your looking at

upset city this weekend .... going to be a lot of movement on the rankings ... hard to figure out who i'm putting where right now

  5. At the Abington Invitational, Great Valley placed 3rd, Council Rock North 2nd, W.C. East 1st. This is probably irrelevant, but GV and W.C. East both displayed quality JV teams today, with W.C. East 2nd and GV 1st.

    1. CRN I think took 1-2-7 but there 4,5 guys just weren't there again this week ... they will move down in the rankings for sure (looks like they may be coming off) but I still am confident at season's end they will be legit ... I think Emery was just sub 16 and Wilson was under 16:10

    2. Seamus beat Aziz, I don't know if it was a fluke race or not but I'm pretty sure that having to fast for an entire month because of Ramadan hurt Sammy's training a lot. I can't imagine him even running at all during that time. I expected Aziz and Wistar to beat Russell because they always did during the track season, but that obviously didnt happen on friday. Bobby Rimkis surprised me the most because him and Wistar finished in the same second. That was unexpected.

  12. CRN, WCE and Penncrest all looked impressive at Abington. Mac did indeed win in 15:59. The conditions were excellent, though.

    1. Is that Abington course mostly downhill? The times see a bit too fast.

    2. It's flat first mile with a bit of down hill and some hills on the second mine. There is a 200m hill and then 800 flat after that to finish the race. It is 5k though. It's a quick course. mostly oaround athletic fields (soccer, baseball, ect) with about 400m in woods.

ForrestCRN (ran the course the past 2 years and I talked to the team and it hasn't changed)

P.S. - To Thomas Doran not sure why CRN didn't show good depth placing 2nd in the JV race when a bunch of JV guys are coming off injury/low summer milage. Along with the 4-7 as a solid pack.

    3. Abington is a very fast course. It's like Lehigh but without the long sloping hills as it spends a lot of time around athletic fields. Last year Seelaus won in 16:44 in wildly soggy conditions, this year it hadn't rained that recently and conditions were near perfect. Literally one gust of wind during the race knocked down the timing tent... But the runners were in the woods at that point. Not to discredit CRN's times, but as with all cross country courses difficulty can be looked at. I don't think the first mile was sub 5:00 though.

  15. wow, henderson should be ranked number 1 in the entire country. They are the best 7 runners ever assembled in the history of running. they will win nationals for the next 25 years at least

    1. Thanks to K Kelly. A lot of XC fans are interested in following as the season unfolds. All results are appreciated. (by most, anyway)

    2. I am a big Henderson fan and I think Henderson should be ranked #1 in the "state" right now and definitely #2 in the region. (freaking CBA always recruiting the crap out of new jersey kids keeps them at the top, I looked at their other sports too and a bunch of their other teams are stacked also) If Henderson trains right which I'm sure they will, I could see them making it into the top 7 or 8 at nationals if the qualify this year.
