What's Up

So we are facing a little bit of technical difficulties at the moment that is delaying the posting of our show, but it will be up sometime in the near future is our hope. To hold you over until then, I realized that in our video we didn't cover the Susquehanna meet, the results of which were not out at the time of our filming.

So I'm going to cover the Susquehanna meet now.

At Susquehanna there were two teams that I wanted to keep an eye on: State College and Cumberland Valley. State College, a 7:50 relay team last year, is led  by one of the states best up and coming stars in Will Cather who proved he has great range running an 8:58 3k to crush the field that included Jordan Crawford (2nd in 9:10) and Alec Kunzweiler of Cumberland Valley (4th in 9:17). Cather also was a leg on the State College 4x4 that just edged out Cumberland Valley 3:40 to 3:41. Will Cather's 3k win he has now qualified for states in each of the three distance events and has helped his 4x8 run the SQS in 8:13. Cather is the only runner to qualify in all 3 individual distance events so far this season. Kyle Adams, another key leg for this team and their DMR hopes, ran a 2:04 for 2nd in the 800m.

As for Cumberland Valley, they had some flashes of prominence at Susquehanna. They ran a modest 8:37 to crush the field in the 4x8, but Alex Coburn had a nice run of 2:02.03 to dominate the field and give himself his best open race of the season.

The Northeast Bradford boys had a nice run in the mile with a 4:34-4:36 1-2 performance by Curt Jewett and Sam Williams respectively. For Williams, who just ran the steeplechase at the Armory, this was a pretty nice two day performance. Jewett continues to prove he has got some mile credentials and will be a factor at states. The boys are both still in their first real races of indoor track.

Nice run in the 3k by Grant Fey of Chambersburg who dropped a 9:12 mark to get his name out on the radar for sleeper picks to qualify in the 3k if he can ever get on a fast enough track.

  3. Okay a couple of things. Cather only ran a 3k at Susquehanna and State College ran only their number 4 guy on their 3:40 4x4. That leaves some interesting possibilities for what Cather and State College will run at states. State College will also be facing off against CV in the DMR at Lehigh, so we'll see how legit they are. State College looks really good right now, and if Adams (I'm assuming here) runs a solid 1200 leg and Golembeski can hit low 2:00s, which seems possible as well, this could be a top 3 team in the DMR at states.

    3. UD splits
      Williamson 3:19
      Jean Louis 54
      Kim 2:02
      Ferruzzi 4:28

I may have mixed up the 12 and 8 legs but I think thats right. Room to improve for the first two legs for sure because they have run faster in the past, the last two legs really brought it home to get the SQS.

  7. Anyone have any idea who will run what legs of the DMR for State College and Cumberland Valley at Lehigh? This could be one of the more exciting races so far this season.

    2. interesting that no bensalem or st. benedict's were in the results although they were two of the top teams based on the pictures ... any explantion? bensalem still is listed on ptfca with a 10:26 qual mark ....

also st. joe's prep 8:15? assuming that is the pa st. joe's prep (not really sure if there is a non-pa one) that is a nice mark for them in a weak 4x8 field

    3. Well St. Benedicts was DQ'd because Cheserek ran into another runner in the last 50 meters and stepped out of bounds. Not sure why Bensalem isn't in the results
