Out of those 15 men just one took home the outdoor state title in the event they won indoors (Mallon) bad news for Huemmler Norris and Rivera?

  1. I feel Rivera is the least likely to win both.
Norris is probably the most likely to win.

    1. Wilson shouldn't count as he was unable to defend his title (Non-PIAA).
I expect Coyle to overtake Huemmler

    2. same rule applies for ivo and kaulbach who were non PIAA ... even though i doubt they would have been able to repeat outdoors in all three cases personally but your point is very legitimate

  2. That is a VERY valid statistic. Some of them were before my time, so I don't know about them, but...

Wilson - Stress fracture in femur
    Willig- Stress fracture in foot
    Gil- some injury...
Endress- can't remember what, but I remember he was hurt...
    Gunzenhauser- Foot I believe?...
    Lefebure- soccer injury
Haneef- Didn't even run the 800 (placed 3rd in the 400)

Of all of those guys, Endress is the only one that ran his event at outdoor States. Idk about the rest of them, but if they got hurt then that adds to it.

    1. Lefebure ran his event outdoors junior and senior year

  3. Endress also tried the 1600/800 double which is difficult with trials and finals outdoor rather than just finals indoor. I think if Endress stuck with just the 1600 or the 800 he might have won.

  4. Thinking about it, Mallon may be the most decorated mid distance runner all time in PA with 3 indoor golds (1600,800,4x800) and 3 outdoor golds (2 800s and 4x800) along with a recognized NFHS 4x800 record and one of only 4 runners who have broken 1:50 in PA. It's good to see that he focused on school, but a shame he's not dominating the college track scene.

    1. he won the 800m outdoors sophomore, junior and senior year so he had 4 outdoor state championships and the outdoor state meet record in the 8 and 4x8

in my personal opinion mallon is the best 800m man the state has ever seen, he was more dominate than anyone i have seen

he also held the indoor and outdoor state 800m records when he graduated but obviously there have been some good guys to come through since

    2. Rumor is Mallon isn't exactly focusing on school but some other college things instead lol
