My top 10 teams:
10-Hershey: Arguably the biggest surprise of the year (well them and WCE). Nate Hamilton has led this team to some great finishes and they'll do well enough to get them in the top 10.
9-Great Valley: This is such a tricky team. They do so well during league's and districts and then the last 2 years not so much at states. They have a solid top 3 and decent backup. But they need to prove they can attack the states course.
8-Cumberland Valley: Not much to say. They've been consistently good all year and have really shown that they can contend. They'll ride they're win from last week and use they're course experience to do what they can. Yet, like Lower D, they'll be tired from last week.
7-Lower D: If Groh has a good day, they could potentially go from 7th to 4th or 5th. They're much more talented then I think a lot realize. Watch out for them. However, they are also going to be tired from last week.
6-WCE: Every week a lot criticized this team but they have been so good and they can really make some noise. The only reason I put them at 6 is because of they're lack of experience.
5-LaSalle: This is tough. They could potentially blow everyone away or struggle. Everyone needs to be on they're A game to put them in this spot.
4-NA:They are so deep and they have a lot of guys that can step up in place of Meehan. It does hurt them but they are all so talented and in such a tight pack. They would've been 3rd had Meehan not been out.
3-CRN: They've been running well as of late and with such a great history running on this state course they will do well. I have them over NA only because Meehan is injured.
2-Henderson: I'm almost 50-50 on this. Henderson didn't just win D1, but they dominated it without some top runners. I'd be worried if I were Ohara. But I'll believe it when I see it.
1-Ohara: Revenge. That should be enough of a reason for this team to run they're heart out. They are all so good and its the pack they have that will be/have been/ and is dangerous.
No individual from WCE?
ReplyDeletejim belfato went like 16:22 at belmont at districts and if he runs like that again he will have a chance at a medal and if chris kazanjian runs the way he did at ditricts he will be there also
ReplyDeleteSteadman at 32 but no leidal or collins? They were all within the same second of each other at districts. Leidal and Collins arnt even on the watch list but Matt willig and Billy Wolffe are? Haugh over Knapp and Stratman from henderson as well? They have been beating haugh all season. And where's Yannacone? he had a great district meet. if steadman is on there than yannacone should be. Cleary im a chesmont fan but this is a tad ridiculous that they were not mentioned.
ReplyDeleteLeidal should be up there.
DeleteYeah I believe he ran 15:54 at Districts. Breaking 16 is very impressive.
DeleteI can't just mention everyone who is good, all those guys were definitely considered to be on the list. The GVs are mentioned because they have run the course for two years in a row now and seem to be coming on strong ready for a break out race (a very personal opinion). I think Steadman is much better than his race at Districts and benefits from the move to the hills. Yannacone and Leidal I see as more speed guys who will struggle more on the hills but both have potential to be top 50 for sure. Haugh gets the nod for a mention because he was top 50 a year ago and hopefully, if he is even racing, can recapture that magic.
DeleteI see your arguments for all of these people, and I have considered them I promise. However, they were not who I chose to include.
Liedal got 42nd place ohh yea
DeleteWhere are Diestelow and Cummings? They beat both of the Great Valley guys on the just missing list. They should have been up by Steadman
ReplyDeleteCummings, DIestelow, Coates, Liedel and Yannaconne beat the Gv boys at Chesmonts and districts. Haugh has had a down year, maybe hurt.
DeleteThey beat Watro too
DeleteWatro may have had an off day. But when those guys beat the same runners in back to back weeks, on different courses and in very different conditions, a pretty strong argument can be made to give them the higher ranking this week.
DeleteDiestelow beat Demko at Paul Short too
DeleteEtrain are you going to do a top 10 team preview?
ReplyDeletei second that ^
Deleteyes, I am in the process of making one right now so hopefully it will be up by tomorrow afternoon

I think that the team race is going to be a lot closer than everyone suspects…between O'Hara, WCH, and NA. Considering the conditions, any of these teams could be wearing State gold on Saturday.

is quinn perhaps the most under-rated defending champion in the history of anything ever? perhaps so. say what you will about his season but the kid turns it on for states.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more
DeleteChesmonts is the deepest league in the toughest District. They took four of the five team slots for states and had 11 break 16:00 at Districts. Yet only four in the top 50 and just two in the just missed? I hope they have a better showing in the race Saturday.
