League Previews 10/17 Meets

Berks County Championships 10/17
Evan Williams (1st) and Connor Mertz (10th) are the only top 10 returner from last year's meet. Williams has established himself as one of the top runners in the state, however, he will need some help from his Governor Mifflin teammates if they are going to keep the team title in their locker room for another year. Andrew Lesko is the squad's #2 returner and will play a big role in the team's title quest.

Ed Narkiewicz All League Meet 10/17
Dominic Deluca, who dominated the headlines early in the season, has faded back into obscurity but will look to prove himself down the stretch as championship season begins. His Dallas teammates will look to him for leadership as they try to take down Holy Redeemer, who returns a slew of AA medal contenders, lead by Mitchell Ford. Jacob Fetterman of Hazelton is the sleeper pick here as he has strung together a series of nice races to start this season.

  1. Look for a Deleca win, leading Dallas to the team title. Holy Redeemer may not be a clear cut second as Tunkhannock always finds a way to contend and surprise.

  2. District 2 AA gets two teams to the state meet this year. Scranton Prep is pretty much a lock, but it will be interesting to see who the other team is. Dallas, Holy Redeemer, Tunkhannock, and North Pocono all have a shot to get that final spot. This meet will be a good indicator what team will get that spot. I think Deluca wins, followed by Fetterman.

    1. NP and Tunk are both AAA. Dallas should prevail

    2. Actually the piaa website says Tunk is AA this year along with Dallas and Holy Redeemer. You are correct North Pocono is AAA. Prep and Dallas should qualify for states out of the AA, while North Pocono will win AAA come districts time.

  3. Dont thinks so bro. Hazelton has a strong top three and Williamsport is competing in the district 2 meet as well. NPs 4,5 are very weak.

  4. North Pocono was second to a very strong Dallas team last year and they lost nobody from their top 7. D2 AAA is pretty weak this year compared to last year so I think pack running from North Pocono will give them the title. D2 AA is still pretty wide open even though Dallas won the team title today behind a DeLuca win.

  6. Oh I didn't know that, that does make things interesting. Anyways Dallas pulls of the win today 57-63 over Tunk. Holy Redeemer is pretty much out of the picture as far as the district title goes. On the girls side Dallas beat Redeemer by 1 point behind a great race by Regan Rome.

  7. Don't count Redeemer boys out yet, their third runner Vinay either did not run or did not finish because he was not in the results.

    1. Doesn't matter race is between Dallas and Tunk. for second. Dallas has the advantage because of DeLuca but needs to get there 4th and 5th men to run better. Tunk. really needs to pack up together to have a chance (need 5 in front of Dallas 4th).
