1st Day

So there were some solid surprises on day one (or at least surprises for me but obviously there are some of you out there who never better than I do). Worth noting was Todaro missing finals in the 1600m and same with Jackson in the AA race. Congrats to Nick Rotz and Brent Kennedy who had great doubles and not only helped their team into the 4x8 finals, but also burst into the 1600m finals. Magaha only had to run 4:18ish to get to finals. Thats a good sign for his record chase. Colt Snyder had a little trouble making 800m finals today, not getting an auto bid, but don't forget about him, he is dangerous. Dan Alexander looked great, even off the double like that. Tonzo and Yannacone got a easier 800 prelim and should be rested for the finals. Kunzweiler and Holder both had to run quick (Kunzweiler ran a PR) and both will run the 4x8 tomorrow and try to double back for the 8 finals. The two have proven they are strong doublers, but you still have to watch this situation with caution. Rivera misses finals unfortunately for Bensalem, but still has 2 races tomorrow to go bananas in. Zach Brehm I sincerely apologize for doubting you. Great race for the youngster, he just keeps getting better all the way through to the finals. But admittedly and his friends in the heat ran quick races and had strong efforts in the prelims. That makes things a little scarier for them in the finals.

But if there is one thing I learned from today, everybody wants to win and no one is thinking about how tired they are. They are going for gold and that is what we as fans love to see. May the best man win tomorrow.

PS Evan Mao, you rock man, great job today and this season. Turned that throwing crew into a great squad. Congrats and have fun in college.

  4. haha, no problem dude. I was actually laughing pretty hysterically at the comments on your predictions earlier in the week. It didn't work out the way I wanted it to today, so your 'lack of experience' comments weren't way off. Don't worry, I'll be back next year.
