  1. I strongly disagree with Yannacone at 23rd. The guy is a very talented runner who has some great speed. But with a 16:41 on arguably fastest course in the state, there are plenty not on the list that surpass that mark on much slower courses. I hate to say it but im not sure i even put him on the list. Even with a 9:41. Now dont get me wrong, both are very nice marks and he is a great runner, but not sure his track times translate into being 23rd overall in the state.... However, i have to say you hit the nail on the head with the state teams. Those are all who i picked for my top 10. Not exact order, but CRN is gonna be a big name school to watch.

  2. Look out for the Kazanjian brothers from Penncrest to break into that list as well, they ran some very good 3200 times in spring for sophs (9:32 and 9:35 PR's I believe).

District 1 and District 12 races should be very interesting with Henderson vs. CRN duel and O'Hara vs. LaSalle. All though NP, GV, and Pennsbury could always mix it up. These are very young teams with more than just one good year ahead

  3. One team advances from district 12 with the new classifications. This sets up an all out battle at what was usually a not that competitive meet.

    1. Wow, seriously? That will be a crazy battle. Such a shame because O'Hara and LaSalle will definently be top 5 team contenders, but only one will go.

    2. Wow that is absolutely outrageous, there is a chance, not a great one admittedly, but a chance none the less, that LaSalle and O'Hara would be the best two teams in the state and only one would actually compete. That is killer.

    3. Wow that is going to be a fun D12 meet then, Is there a chance that the team that doesn't win qualify enough individuals to get a team score at states?

    4. but if either lasalle or ohara gets second but has 5 individuals qualify they can run as a team

      Delete
    5. the only problem is with only one team qualifying that means that there are only 5 individuals who qualify as well ... so the team would have to finish second but they would have to be the top 5 non winning team finishers ... there is no room for error

    6. top 25 runners from d12 are picked after the team winner's names are crossed off, lasalle or ohara might be able to sneak all of their guy in there

    7. Don't know who stated the last post, but they are wrong. Even this past year it was 2 teams, 10 individuals.

There will be 2 A teams, 2 AA teams, and only 1 AAA team coming out of D12 on both the guys and girls side. This is honestly a shame because arguably the most competitive at a state level are our AAA boys, yet the numbers are based solely on how many schools are in each classification.

As for 5 guys coming from one team, it hasn't happened yet since the Catholic League joined the PIAA. This past year, it would have been 2 La Salle kids, a Roman kid, and 2 from St. Joe's Prep.

  4. I think Henderson takes the state because of their great depth and quality outdoor season.

  5. http://www.piaa.org/assets/web/documents/Cross_Country_Boys.pdf seems as though Grove City will stay AAA

    1. That's not an updated list even though they say it is. Notice, only 2 classifications.

  6. Henderson has too much talent. They just need to fix the problem they had at state this past xc, indoor and outdoor.

  7. easier said than done obviously they couldn't fix it over the course of the three state meets this year.

    1. It's a bit unfair to hold that 4x8 at states against them, they held third place until the 2nd leg's foot as clipped a good 5 times before he finally fell over, after that the 3rd and 4th lane just cruised in from a hundred meters back. I hardly consider that being just them messing up when they didn't have much control over it. Their sophomore Russell hung onto 8th but was outkicked in the last hundred and came in 9th. And may I restate that again, A sophomore, getting 27th at XC States and 6th at the District 1 race in a 15:43 (beating hibbs who had a bad day I guess.) Then there is sam haugh who has been out since indoor but ran a 9:48. he'll be back to what he was in XC. Then Barchet who was out all of their xc season but as a freshman ran a 16:04, he ran a 9:27 at districts but took 9th so he couldn't make it to states. There is one thing in common among their top 3 runners, they are all sophomores. This takes me back to the Russell beating hibbs at districts statement, I in no way am implying that he is a better runner (yet, he has more years for that) My point is that if Hibbs can have a bad day to where a sophomore in his first real year on the varisity team can beat him, then it is reasonable to think that these sophomores are entitled to having ba races too, it's their firt year at thi level in track and xc. cut them all some slack, as juniors mr kelly will make sure they know what they're doing

  8. There has been a team to qualify with 5 runners it was Ohara in 2009. That was when they had 10 individuals though. It is extremely unfortunate that the numbers affected D12 this way. They were 3rd in the district scoring last year at states. So they are right behind D3 in my opinion.

  9. Last year #13 won the state championship. Anything can happen.
