AAA
I'm surprised to see no Tunkhannock A team in the 4x8, they could have ran a solid time, but they do have solid individuals this year that can do some damage at states so we will see how that works out. Burke and Wilkinson are both listed in the 4x8 (Valley View with Bednash is probably the favorite to punch their ticket to states), but hopefully they will not be too tired for the 3200 and put on a show. In the 1600m, Ben Robinson of Tunkhannock will take his 4:20 PR on the line against Dallas's Jess Adams who sports a 4:23 PR but is looking to pull off the upset. In the 800 the big Tunkhannock stud Tom Damiani is looking to throw down an impressive time after his 1:54 at Henderson. His main competition will be Brandon Bednash who has a PR under the SQS and will have to run well again to get back to the state meet. Alex Nole, who sits with a 1:58 PR, also has a chance to sneak into the state meet if he runs about a second faster than his seed time against this quality competition. Damiani looks to follow in the footsteps of Costello and medal at states in the 800 out of District 2. In the 3200m, Jess Adams and Ben Robinson will both be looking to prove themselves on a doubling effort. Adams comes in with a 9:30 PR which puts him under the SQS. But Sean Burke is the class of the field with a 9:23 PR and a big XC season under his belt. Wilkinson is also an XC state medalist and will look to run hard and make states. Dallas's Deluca and Ehret who will be running the 4x8 will look to come back in the 32 and drop solid PRs seeded at 9:39 and 9:44 respectively. Deluca, a sophomore, was one of my sleeper picks at states in XC (although it didn't quite pan out that way).

Galassi and his Holy Cross squad are the top seed in the 4x800m and that is how it looks Galassi will start off his day. Galassi will than lead the way in the 1600m. His 4:19 is easily the top mark in the race as a few low 4:30 guys will also chase the AA SQS. Freshman Mark Arzie of Lakeland is the 2 seed with a 4:31.00 mark under the SQS. Jacob Bevan is the top 800m seed at 1:59.11. He is the #1 seed by about 5 seconds as Azrie is #2 at 2:04.00. The 3200 should be a great battle as well. Galassi and Jones (who is fresh) are both seeded well under the meet record of 9:28 and are looking to push each other to a top mark in the race. Kieran Sutton and Mitchell Ford are both seeded under 10 minutes and hoping to sneak their way into states.
I think AH has a good shot at winning the 4x800. Burke has sub 2:00 potential, they have a sophmore who split 2:03 a week ago, a junior who's around 2:04-2:05 and a freshman who split 2:07 and thses guys can most likely run faster. With their best time only three seconds behind VV, anything could happen.
ReplyDeleteIt should be a great race, no doubt about it. I'm excited to see it.
ReplyDeleteWith the meet postponed to Wednesday the A-train will be rolling, no doubt about it!

Top 4 and the next 4 fastest times make the final. Depending on who runs hot, heat 2 has some real sleepers. Heats change if any teams scratch.
What would the 4x4 heats be?
ReplyDeleteW/no scratches:
DeleteHeat 1-PR, CV, PC, CBW, SF, HGP, PG, Chester
Heat 2-Ben, Wiss, SH, NP, CBS, UD, UP, DTE
Heat 3-PW, PB, GV, UM, Ntown, Nesh, Hav, WCH
Top 2 and the next 2 fastest advance. PW looks like an easy ride to the finals. First 2 heats will be brutal. Someone will run 3:22 and not get to the finals.
4x1 Heats?
