sad news

First off just want to say that 1 to 10 comment on the questions page for an answer to number 11 is hilarious, I really enjoyed that commenter.

But moving on.

First off I want to share some very sad news with the blog. Ned Willig is done for the season with a stress fracture and the big Willig v. Magaha matchup that I have hyped up on the blog will not happen. This is unfortunate, but it is unfortunate not because of the crumbling of a potentially historical match up, but because the PA track community will miss a great runner and a great competitor. Its weird because this may be my last chance to talk about this guy because once he graduates, here on the blog, we won't hear much about him. I don't really delve outside the realm of PA high school track (obviously the managers here of the blog are looking to try and expand that but that's besides the point). I was a big fan of Ned and although I don't come out and say this very often because it hurts my credibility, I was rooting for him this year over Drew. Ned works hard and puts himself out there in races. He went for it outdoors in the 1600m at 600 to go. He ran more 1:51s than most guys I can remember in state history. He broke the indoor state record in the 800 when no one saw it coming and he scared the 3 minute 1200m barrier on Lehigh's flat track. He helped Ben Malone get multiple class records in the 1k and the 800m and he helped Great Valley get state gold in the DMR and All-American DMR honors.

Thank you for the memories Ned. You will be missed here on the blog.

I'm looking forward to a 3:42 1500m next spring.

  1. I see Ned entered in the D1 800M. Is he OK?
