I strongly encourage everyone to sign the petition started by Mr. Devlin below and spread it around to everyone you know. I will admit at first I was under the impression that rules are rules and Futch acted out and in the end there wasn't much to prevent the rules from taking effect. However, I have been reading and researching the situation in classic etrain matter and I have come to realize the outrage around this situation isn't just Eric Futch won't be able to chase records and we will miss that, it is there has been a serious true injustice at the District 1 Championships.
The following stories shed shocking light on the situation:

After reading these and even reading the word for word report of the situation, my perspective of the situation has changed dramatically. Yes, Eric acted out, he yelled and he is not completely out of fault here. However, the charge failed was one that was designed to keep him out of the state meet when another violation could have also taken him out of the d1 meet but not the state meet.
It appears here that although Futch acted out with his yelling, the officials acted most immaturely of all. There seems to be a conspiracy to remove him from the meet. I was under the impression that Futch had acted out violently or over the top with his yelling at that was the reason the police were called in, but they were called in simply because he walked away from the official and tried to avoid a conflict!
It's not fair at all to have this happen to athlete who has given so much to the state and so much to the PIAA. He brought fans and revenue to the state for over a year now and they just throw him to the wolves for a bit of heat induced anger and some questionable actions by the meet officials.
This is outrageous and we as athletes of the PIAA should not stand for it. Please stand the petition and spread it around to those who yo can. I promise that I will use my blog and my resources as best I can to ensure that Futch gets at least his appeal and a fair shot to race at states.
Here again is the petition to reinstate Futch:
